The world cup has been a mjor money spinning event .All countries jostle day and night to ensure that they participate in the global event.African countries are no exception.With the decision by FIFA sometime in the yera past to increase the numbers of teams coming for the event it has more or less increased the yearnings of african countries to host the global soccer event on their soil.
Countries like Nigeria,South Africa etc have bidded in the past amongt other nations for the hosting of the event.South Africa successfully bidded and won the hosting right of the 2010 world cup .This would be the first time an African country would be hosting the soccer event with participants drawn from all over the world.
Unfortunately recent happenings in the south africa has put a question mark on their ability to host the world.
To just recall some few years back when the country was groaning under the excrutiating pain of apartheid.The country was treated like a pariah among the comity of nation .South African's business and commercial relationships were severed .The world stood up and spoke with one voice to condenm the existence of apartheid in that country.Funds ,votes and voices were mobilized to ensure that the apartheid regime was brought to its knees.
Many citizen of this great nation suffered great losses during this regime .Some were maimed,killed outrightly,some were clamped into jail for no reason other than asking to be treated equally in their motherland.
One would have expected that a country and a populace with this antecedent would readily appreciate the fact that people should be treated with dignity and respect irrespective of their race and culture but the opposite is what is manifesting .
The whole world is stupefied to see south African citizens treating their fellow africans in a despicable manner.Killing fellow africans ,destroying properties and rendering people homeless all in the name of protesting the hunger and joblessness in the land.
One thing we haev to look at is the fact that the failure of the government to provide a succour for the general populace is at the root of this evil.We have to ask ourselves the following questions .Does it now mean that the South African government has failed in its bid to provide for its citizenry?
Does it mean that South africans themselves are not tolerant of other africans who they see as coming into their country to take their food,money and shelter?
Does it mean that South Africa is no longer safe for other africans .
Lastly ,Do you really think South Africa should be allowed to host the world come 2010?
Lets share ideas and try and fashion out a way in this logjam happening in the country that once pride itself as one of the giants of Africa.

Are you going to post a couple of battalions of army troops to provide security? If not, then the games should go elsewhere.
All said and done ,i feel we should stop South Africa from hosting the world cup in 2010.A country that does not tolerate other nationals is not fit to be a good and perfect host.
In the alternative so as not to jeopardise other African countries chances of hosting the world cup , i believe FIFA should put it in black and white that if the country or its nationals do not stop the killing and rampage of other countries citizen then the hosting of the world cup might elude them and also the next country on the bidding list should be contacted tentatively.
